WordPress CV builder
CV Pro
Build a private career record in WordPress, then use it to create different CVs for different jobs without rewriting the same employment, education, skills and achievements each time.
Build your career record once
CV Pro separates the information you have built up through your working life from the individual CVs you send out. Your Person details and Career Records become reusable source material rather than text trapped inside one document.
Create a Saved CV when you need one, choose the records and bullet points that matter for that role, and adjust the wording for that CV without changing the underlying career record.
At a glance
- Private career records inside WordPress
- Reusable employment, education and skills information
- Different Saved CVs for different jobs
- British Standard and ATS Simple layouts
- Protected preview, DOCX and PDF output
- Complete and selective JSON backup and restore
What you can keep in CV Pro
The career archive can cover far more than a list of previous jobs. Keep the source material together, then decide what belongs in each CV.
Employment and freelance work
Record employers, roles, dates, employer overviews, relevant skills, responsibilities and achievements, with a master employment order for your career history.
Education and qualifications
Keep education, qualifications and related details as separate records that can be included where they are useful.
Skills and achievements
Store skill groups, achievements and repeatable bullet points, then select the strongest evidence for a particular application.
Projects, awards and publications
Keep projects, outcomes, awards and publications available without forcing them into every CV.
Voluntary work and memberships
Record voluntary roles, professional memberships and other experience that may be relevant to some applications but not others.
Languages, references and custom records
Add languages, protected referee information and Custom Career Records for useful information that does not fit one of the standard types.
Create a CV for the job in front of you
A Saved CV is assembled from your existing records. Choose sections, individual records and the responsibility, achievement, project, outcome or skill bullets you want to use.
You can also override profile text, record wording and individual bullets for one CV. The source record remains available for the next application.
- Create blank Saved CVs or duplicate an existing one.
- Follow your master employment order or use a CV-specific order.
- Move sections and selected records without changing the source archive.
- See warnings when source material changes or becomes unavailable.
- Use approximate word and A4 page counts to keep an eye on length.
Preview, style and export
British Standard
A conventional CV layout with flexible presentation controls and Garamond as the default font for newly created British Standard CVs.
ATS Simple
A simpler layout intended for straightforward document structure, with Arial as the default font for newly created ATS Simple CVs.
Typography and spacing
Choose Garamond, Cambria, Times New Roman, Aptos, Calibri, Arial or Helvetica, along with body size, spacing density and A4 page margins.
Protected preview
Preview the assembled CV inside the administration area and use browser printing without creating a public CV page.
Editable DOCX
Export a Word document with named editable styles, real headings, hyperlinks and bullet lists so the finished file can still be adjusted in Word or compatible software.
Selectable-text PDF
Create an A4 PDF with selectable text, working web and email links, wrapped bullets and page-break handling. PDF export does not require ZipArchive.
Private by design
CV Pro stores Person, Career Record and Saved CV information as private, non-queryable WordPress records. The plugin does not create a public CV archive or public single-CV route.
Referee details and private notes are handled as protected information, and administration actions use the plugin’s own capabilities and ownership checks.
One person or several
New installations use Single Person mode by default, keeping the administration simpler for an individual CV archive.
Multiple People mode can be enabled for sites that need separate career records and Saved CVs for more than one person.
Back up the career archive, not just the finished CV
CV Pro can create complete JSON backups, selected-Person backups and selected-Saved-CV backups. Import includes validation and a read-only preview before records are written.
Supported restore options include adding records as new with cross-site ID remapping, restoring matching records from the same archive and replacing a selected Person’s related records with the previous records moved to WordPress Trash.
Standalone WordPress plugin
CV Pro does not require Life Archive, Fiction Archive or another Paragraphs product. It is a separate WordPress plugin with isolated administration screens, records, scripts and styles.
CV Pro questions
Does CV Pro publish my CV online?
No. CV Pro’s preview and export workflow stays in WordPress administration and it does not create a public CV route.
Can I create more than one CV?
Yes. Saved CVs are independent and can use different records, bullets, wording, ordering and presentation choices.
Can I tailor a CV for a particular job?
Yes. Select only the relevant records and bullets, then use CV-specific wording overrides without changing your source records.
Can I create Word and PDF files?
Yes. CV Pro exports editable DOCX files and selectable-text PDFs. DOCX requires ZipArchive; PDF export does not.
Can I use CV Pro for several people?
Yes. Single Person mode is the default, while Multiple People mode can maintain separate records for several people.
